5you'll want to stand and watch water boil
By Desert Gypsy
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1FY9IGWS0KK7X The overall design and polished chrome finish is stunning. Efficient operation as well as efficient design: tiny footprint on your counter with the sleek heating element plate that it rests on, and the cord stays out of the way with a hidden space underneath the base to guide and hand wind any extra slack. Single wall construction; the surfaces other than the handle do get hot to the touch when in use. Easy to fill (press the upper lever to open), then press the clear lever to turn on and that lever will light up. Features auto shut off - once it comes to a boil, after a second or two, the "on" lever will release to "off" and the white light will turn off. Note: Krups recommends emptying the kettle after each use to prevent scale buildup on the interior surface.A word about the "wood optics" detailing - I googled this term and it seems to be something Krups has made up to describe the faux wood grain featured on this model. It is something you'll definitely notice straight out of the box but probably not enough to think it's a deal breaker. As I mention in the video I think it may actually be a *good* thing that the faux finish is made of a material designed to work with heat/steam/water as opposed to real wood that may have been less suitable in this application. The listing detail photos which offer close-up and zoom views of the handle give a much better idea of exactly what the wood optic finish looks like. This model has a TWO year manufacturer's warranty which might help calm any fears about the wear and durability of this machine. If you have to boil water, this is definitely a high end, high *art* way to do it.

5Well Worth the Price
By I. Tysoe
We recently purchased this electric kettle and I have to say that, thus far, I am quite impressed. It's beautifully shaped (in fact, it reminds me a bit of the kettle Jeeves used in Jeves and Wooster). And, at 1500 watts, it isn't under-powered like many other kettles, meaning it boils water more quickly and, in the end, more cheaply. And it is so easy to use even I (who am quite technically challenged) worked it out in no time flat. On top of all that (and this is quite important for this household) it keeps water hot for long periods of time. Just today we boiled the water for tea a little before 11 am but got round to actually making the tea a little after 1 pm. The water was still quite hot as was the tea. In short, this kettle will, I expect, will save us on our electricity bills and is quite good for the environment to boot. And I have to say, I love the faux-wooden handle. (The handle is actually plastic but it looks and feels almost like wood.) I kept burning myself using our old kettle and, as my skin is allergic to just about everything (including creams that are supposed to help burns) this was actually quite serious. So I love that I don't have to worry as much about burns anymore. And of course there is the lighter. When you turn the kettle on, the light at the back lights up and as the light is quite bright, you always know when the kettle is on.If I have a minor quibble with the kettle it's this: it's almost too shiny. It has an almost perfect mirror finish. I am not saying it looks cheap, far from it but it does tend to draw the eye. We have a fifties-style kitchen: white and blue tiles and white counters and, as a result, this kettle is pretty much the first thing you look at when you walk in. Other than that it's almost the perfect kettle and well worth the price.

4It's good!
By E. Stasny
I am a bit obsessed with finding electric kettles with no plastic and this is NOT it. However, I have read a few places that Krups uses only BPA-free plastics, which makes me feel a little bit better about the very small amount of plastic touching the boiling water. There are two clear plastic water level guides on each side, and that's the only plastic that touches the water while boiling. In addition, the inside of the lid is plastic, and there is a plastic-rimmed filter in the spout, but these do NOT touch the water while boiling. I have just finished my first cup of tea using water from this kettle and it does not have any strange odor or flavor from said plastics. The kettle boils quickly and VERY quietly and it's very pretty to look at. I quite like it. But due to the plastic issue, I am still deciding whether or not to keep it. Technically, the plastic they use should be safe...but who knows, really?? I really wish they had omitted some more of the plastic and if they had, I would have given this 5 stars.
