The Little Beast Machine!

I was given this 3-in-1 as a gift for my "Man Cave Command Center" as I like to call it. I turned my room into one of the best places where I like to spend time. In my opinion, this little machine is a step up from the kids toy "Easy Bake Oven".I'm a nurse and since I work nightshift, this machine serves its purpose in my room. Somehow I tend to rush when I go to the kitchen and I lose my mind. But since I have a fridge/freezer combo, and microwave in my room, everything I have is right here. Now that the 3-in-1 is a part of my collection, it makes everything so much simpler.Some people gripe about how it's so small and that it can't do big items. This wasn't made for that. This was made to be the solution for those living in small spaces. To me, I'm perfectly fine with a small dinner roll to be toasted and eggs to be griddled on top. I find that awesome.I give this a 5-star because it makes my life a lot better!Pros:1. Small in size2. Griddle works like a charm3. Coffee maker works fast!4. Toaster a go-go! Can't go wrong with it!Cons:I don't see any in my opinion! I'm a simple person that doesn't need big items to be toasted. A simple dinner roll works for me!

Everything Smaller Than Expected, but Works as Promised

This 3 in 1 Breakfast Machine contains a toaster oven, hot plate, and coffee maker. All the items are smaller than if you bought them separately, but if you are tight on space this is definitely handy.The toaster oven was probably the biggest negative. It is only wide enough to fit 1 slice of break. Fortunately there is a top burner and a bottom burner so you can stack 2 pieces of bread on top of each other and flip them in the middle of cooking.I cooked eggs in a basket on the hotplate and it cooked the egg in about 5 or 6 mins.Pros:Space SavingDial Timer 15 mins maxCan turn on/off top and bottom burner individuallyReusable Coffee FilterEasy to clean removable hot plateComes with baking panNegatives:All components pretty small, can't toast large itemsDon't expect to cook for large parties, but if just cooking for yourself not bad.Timer clicking down can get annoying

So far so good

We have issues with hard water and our coffee maker constantly slowing down. Up until now I have always used vinegar but it hasn't worked all l that great. The 3 pack of this coffee maker cleaner went on sale at a great price so I decided to get some. I have only used this once so far but I do think it helped speed up the brewing process. My only complaint is that it requires a few rinses by brewing plain water. The whole process can take hours because you don't want to overwhelm the machine with constant repeated brewing, but you have to because this product is toxic to people. I will continue to use this monthly as recommended an update this review as needed.

We've tried both vinegar and CLR to clean our coffee maker with limited success. After trying Whink we were thoroughly impressed with how well it worked. It immediately removed calcium build-ups where CLR did not.

I know where to get it cheaper!!!

I bought my Bella a couple of weeks ago to take into work and put on my desk. It is absolutely perfect! It brews quickly, very little clean up and super yummy coffee!!! I was thinking about asking for another one for Christmas for my house. I got on amazon to see how much they were on here and was shocked when I saw the price was $40-$45!!! I couldn't believe it. I mean I love mine but I don't think I would have spent that much on it. I bought mine at Kohls. It was regular price $29.99 and on sale for #19.99 and then I had 30% off so I only spent $14.97 on it, which was TOTALLY worth it!!! Go to Kohls, hopefully you have a 30% off and some Kohls cash you could save a lot!

Perfect Single Scoop Brewer

Nothing fancy, just functionality at a great price (just $20 at Kohl's when it goes on sale). When I moved from my house to a small apartment, I stored my full size coffee maker due to the lack of adequate counter space. Not only that, but I was always wasting coffee by having to brew more than I needed. If I left it on the burner too long it always became nasty tasting and it was going down the drain anyway. This permits me to always have a fresh large cup (14 oz.) whenever I need my coffee fix. It will brew between 5-14 oz, your choice. I buy the brand of coffee I like without having to use the expensive pods. It brews quickly and is hot.Unfortunately, my unit had a defective permanent coffee filter. The mesh was not sealed the entire circumference of the plastic rim, but still useable. Bella's Customer Service promptly replaced it at no charge. Otherwise, I would have given this unit five stars.

Fast Little Coffee Maker

My husband bought this for me (at Kohls) because I needed my own personal coffee "pot" at work. (the guys I work with make theirs waaaaay too strong!) Mine came with its own cup and that's the "pot" the brewed coffee goes into. It brews coffee in less than 5 minutes. I should have went back to the store to purchase another one - if nothing else just to hold on to. If I would have known they'd be so hard to find, I would have! You can't go wrong with this little baby! One thing, if you try to pour the water into the resevoir with the cup it comes with, you may get a bit of water dripped onto the counter. (I use a small pitcher to put the water in.)

Great Machine - positives and negatives

I purchased this machine at a Kohl's for roughly $220. I think it's of an exceptional quality for the price.Positives: #1 Well built (it's actually quite heavy)#2 easy to use, filters allow for a single or double shot to be made - also comes with a pod filter but I've never used it#3 large water reservoir that has allowed me to make 4 or 5 espressos and steam milk too#4 comes with a DVD that teaches you how to use it (much easier than reading the booklet) - this is especially helpeful if you're new at making your own drinks#5 easy to clean#6 has a warming plate on top (good if you need to make more than one double shot cups or two single shot cups#7 espresso has a good taste (although I think this has as much to do with the quality of the coffee you're using) The machine actually does produce a good amount of crema for the price you pay#8 Stainless steel frothing picture is just the right size for one latte or two cappucinos#9 15 bar pump allows for more than enough pressure and for great taste.#10 has a feature that allows you to get plain old hot water too if someone isn't interested in the espresso and wants tea/cocoa/whateverNegatives: #1 the steam nozzle is too long - you kind of have to tilt the pitcher to get the nozzle out - this isn't a problem so long as you know so you can use less milk or you can place the machine so the nozzle can be used on a non-countered space. The nozzle has a good range of movement so this does help counteract.#2 the distance between the portafilter (where the coffee comes out) and the drip tray is not very tall - I've found that I have to use a smaller cup to brew and then dump it into a larger cup if I'm going to make a latte and want to fit in a decent amount of frothed milk.#3 you have to be really careful to not overtamp your grounds or you'll end out with coffee everywhere - this machine is a little pickier than I expected (and pickier than the really cheap machine this replaced). But, with that said, the taste is 100x better. You can catch it if you overtamp too so long as you closely monitor and make sure the water is coming out of the portafilter at a decent rate. If you overtamp, barely anything drips out. After a while you figure out how much is too much.#4 - my biggest complaint, and this one is quite dangerous - There's not a great way of knowing that pressure has been released - this means that once your espresso is made and you're ready to clean out the coffee grounds you have to be really really careful or it'll explode the hot coffee grinds all over you and your kitchen. I've been seriously burned a couple of times. It might not be a problem if you're used to espresso machines (I wasn't when I first bought this one) or you learn to be super extra careful always.

Easy, Yummy, Great Design

We had a Krups combo coffee pot/espresso machine and after several espresso calamities in a row, I gave up and got this Cuisinart. So far it has been great! It seems that there used to be only basic espresso makers or extremely expensive ones on the market, with nothing in between. But the Cuisinart satisfies the coffee connoisseur on a budget by making truly wonderful espresso and more.One of my frustrations with our last model was the "perfect froth" tip, which was disastrous to say the least. I just need a basic steam wand and I can take it from there, and the Cuisinart fits the bill - it steamed and frothed my milk easily and quickly. Just be careful to use less milk than you might think, because the volume doubles in no time. I'll probably switch to a larger pitcher than the one that comes with the Cuisinart, though it's fine to start out.A couple tips to get started: the instructions say the heating light should come on right away, but it didn't for me until I switched the small knob to the droplet icon (as opposed to the middle neutral position). I figured this out by watching the video, which I recommend as the instruction manual is pretty bare. It's also good to see how much pressure one should use to tamp the grounds.The only negative thing I can say is that the warming tray doesn't seem to get very warm, but I do like being able to store my cups on top anyway (more space in the cabinets now, plus a certain café aesthetic is always nice), so I don't mind. Positives are that it's fast, it's quiet, everything is sturdy and well designed (and clicks or locks solidly in place so you know things are seated correctly), and the espresso is truly café quality - an enormous difference from the more basic espresso machines on the market.UPDATE: Since this review I have had some experiences with clogging. Cuisinart customer service was totally unhelpful, but here's what I do to remedy the situation:1. As soon as you notice espresso isn't coming out, turn off the machine, take off the basket (you may have to wait for the pressure to subside), rinse it out well, and fill the machine with water.2. Scrub the underside of the metal grid that the filter basket attaches to with a damp cloth.3. Reattach just the basket with no filter. Heat water and run that through to get any clogs in the upper part of the machine. I fill up a milk pitcher. Then turn the big black dial to neutral, add the empty filter to the basket, and repeat. As long as water starts running through that ok it should be all right. I hope it works for you!

Great Coffee, but Have a Backup Plan Too!

I like my coffee. In fact, I freely admit to being a coffee addict. And before I say anything else, let me say that this machine makes great coffee. With the right beans and a bit of practice, you can beat the taste of any coffee shop with this.That said, I am glad, I still have my french press, because sometimes this machine decides to be difficult. It usually starts if you tamp your coffee too hard. The coffee maker is then unable to pass water through and ceases up completely. Make sure you watch what you are doing, so you can stop it from trying if necessary. Now, the real problem with this is, that you will have a very hard time removing the basket, as long as there is still pressure inside. It takes somewhere between 5-10 minutes at least, before the pressure has gone down enough, that you can pry the basket off (watch for exploding coffeegrounds, if you didn't wait long enough).To make matters worse, the machine seems to have a hard time recovering after an incident such as this. It seems to get even pickier, with what it will accept, and it will be easier to resort to the backup plan, and let the espresso machine recover.I would rate the EM-100 a 5/5, if it weren't for this problem. I hardly apply any strength, when I tamp my coffee, and I still run into trouble from time to time. In fact, the first one I had got so picky, that I took it back to the store and exchanged it.To minimize my risk, I take great care to clean every bit of the coffee maker after each use. If you can live with this issue, the coffee that comes out of this machine really is to die for.

Addicted to a blender

The other day I impulsivley went and bought a Hamilton Beach Juicer. When I got it home I hemmed and hawed, wondering if I should use it or not. Did I really want it? I started looking around the internet and realized what I really wanted was something to make smoothies or other fruit concoctions. I researched a few things like the Magic Bullet and Ultimate Chopper but both had mixed reviews. I was tempted to buy the Tribest blender because it had some good reviews here at Amazon but I could only find it online and it's listed at $60 - much more than what I really wanted to spend.Instead, I went to my local Walmart and to see what they had. I saw the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender and it was priced for only $13.67 so I was interested. It's just me, so I don't need a huge and heavy unit taking up what little counter space I have. I also figured since that if I bought it at Walmart and that if I didn't like it I could easily return it.I brought it home, looked over the manual and attempted my first smoothie. I threw in milk, strawberries, frozen raspberries and hit the button. I needed to blend it some more because of the raspberries being frozen. Live and learn, I should have done those first. I put in some ice and blended it some more. It came out wonderful!The jar itself can be used as a serving glass. I probably will only use it in that manner at home. It has no handle so I'd be afraid I'd drop it when I was out. Then the blender would be worthless because the blade is in the jar.* Jar twists and locks into place on the base* Comes with a travel lid to take your drink on the go* Cord wraps around the base* Not intended for all food - manual says not to process hard foods such as cheese, crackers or meat. A maximum of 12 tablespoons can be ground at a time. Do not try to mash potatoes, mix stiff dough, whip egg whites, grind raw meat or extract juice from fruit or veggies.* Container cover has filler cap that can be removed to insert small objects when blending* Can not use big chunks of ice. You need to break them down. I have an ice tray where the shape is a small circle (half ball) and it was fine. Perhaps this is what you can use those holiday themed ice trays for. Some of those sizes which I have seem I think would work in this.* NOT dishwasher safe - but easy clean up - rinse, put water and soap in jar, blend for a minute, empty, rinse again and you're done.* No complicated speeds or choices - one push button* I can't find it on the box or in the manual but according to Amazon, the motor has 175 watts of powerI just went and made another smoothie! Banana, Vanilla soy milk, little bit of chocolate syrup and instant coffee. Yummy!This one site has TONS of recipes that you can use with this blender. Dumped my big blender, buying a second one of these.

This is probably the best $15 I ever spent for the kitchen.I had a bigger standard blender, but never used it. Now, with this little blender, the little jar is always filled with something or in the dish drainer. It never gets a chance to be put away in the cabinet. The blender base is always on the counter - the only appliance of any sort that has that status.It's simple and it works. It makes no more than two servings, and it does a real good job with single servings. I can make one kind of smoothie or shake and my son can make his own.All of a sudden, we go to the store looking for "smoothie fodder" and we don't have to agree on what that is.I am buying my second mostly for the second jar and lids. It is so inexpensive that they do not sell the replacement parts.

The hard life and times of a smoothie addict

[Update: Motor burned out in 5th month, but I may have become unrealistic in my expectations of the little machine, bullying it more than necessary. It easily outlasted a Blender Express, and unlike the bad design of the Blender Express, the elegant simplicity of this Hamilton Beach insures not only much quicker but spill-free, dripless smoothies. I've ordered another. I recently returned a lightweight Blender Express (by Back to the Basics) that failed after a single use! (The banana was too much for it.) This Hamilton Beach is the smallest, lightest blender I've seen yet, but it promises to perform for a while at least.Ingeniously, the makers have avoided any reference to ice cubes in either the instruction manual or recipes (I get the point, though I still insist on using them). Also, there is no "on" switch; instead, the unit has only a "pulse" switch, thereby insuring that your hands must remain on the unit, preventing it from dancing off the counter and insuring that the motor gets stopped the instant excessive resistance is met.For under twenty bucks and six months' use, you can count this one a decent value--though keep those smoothies small and simple. And if you plan to take the container "on the road," be extra careful about misplacing the quarter-sized center lid (mine disappeared faster than a quarter).

A must for keeping up maintenance on your Mr. Coffee

All electric coffee machines require cleaning. Most suggest this be done once a week to keep it operating at peak performance. I would suggest getting the large carton of these cleaners to save money in the long run. The process of using this is easy and takes about 20 minutes to finish the entire cleaning procedure.
